UPDATE: Two men drown in Gulf

Lifeguards pulled 58-year-old Richard Strobl, of Gulford, Ill., to the beach, but were unable to resuscitate him.

The Walton County Sheriff's Office have identified Fredrick Paul Barrett, 61, of Nova Scotia, Canada as the man who drowned in the Gulf of Mexico near the Whale's Tale in Miramar Beach yesterday.
Barrett was found floating in the water, where he was pulled out by Deputies and South Walton County Fire Personnel at about 4:45 p.m.

Man drowns off Panama City Beach

PANAMA CITY BEACH — A 37-year-old drowned off Panama City Beach on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
Panama City Beach Police said late Wednesday the man entered the Gulf on a boogie board behind the Majestic Tower Resort,
but a friend lost sight of him in the water. Beach and Surf Patrol located the man and brought him to shore, but EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the ID of the man and are awaiting approval from the medical examiner's office to transport the man's body.
Yellow and purple surf flags were flying at the time.
