BP is giving $100 million dollars to fund coastal environmental projects in each of the state's impacted by last year's oil spill. Bay County officials have submitted twelve projects to the preliminary list.
The most expensive is a stormwater treatment plan on Front Beach Road, at $144 million dollars. A $51.5 million dollar coastline improvement project is also there, and a beach outfall restoration project, which costs $16.5 million dollars.
Bay County Commissioners will have to prioritize the projects, which are grouped under two categories. Either they were effected by the oil spill or will help in the oil spill recovery effort.
If any of the projects are approved, they could be underway as early as this Fall
