Police: DUI manslaughter suspect took LSD before fatal crash

The wreck that killed two people Saturday morning began when Jonathan Noah Michael Dillard spent a night drinking, smoking marijuana and taking LSD, according to a report released by the Panama City Beach Police Department.

Dillard, 23, consumed the drugs with Micah Phelps and Gene Hathaway at a home on Heather Drive, the report states. Dillard then chased Hathaway around the home with a large knife, Hathaway and Phelps said. Phelps disarmed Dillard and Dillard then left the home in a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer, the report states.

At about 6:45 a.m. Maryjo Anne Badali, 78, of Destin, and Mary Elizabeth Birks, 75, of Fort Walton Beach, were in a 2003 Acura Acura waiting in the left turn lane of U.S. 98 about to head north onto State 79. As the two women waited, they were struck by Dillard’s Blazer as it headed east on U.S. 98, according to police
