Well this ain't local, local, but it's Alabama.
Three area residents arrested last month on allegations of filing false oil spill claims have been formally indicted and face arraignment this week in Mobile’s federal court.
Maria K. Wright of Orange Beach, Travis Paul Sigler of Loxley and Dayne Wyman Willis Kayn, of Bayou La Batre, face charges of wire fraud and access device fraud. Wright has also been charged with aggravated identity theft.
They are among eight people across the country charged last month with federal offenses related to fraudulent oil spill claims, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
They also are the first three people to be charged in Mobile’s federal court with offenses related to fraudulent claims made to the Gulf Coast Claims Facility, which took over responsibility from BP PLC for compensating victims of the Deepwater Horizon disaster.
