2011 Atlantic Hurricane Season Forecast
Colorado State University forecasters have updated their 2011 tropical outlook.
16 named storms, 9 hurricanes, with 5 being major is what this year's experts are forecasting.
The highly anticipated, and much debated, Hurricane Forecast was released today by Dr. Phil Klotzbach and Dr. William Gray. They continue to see atmospheric conditions that will lead to an "above average" hurricane season for 2011.
Last year (2010), NO HURRICANES made landfall in the Gulf of Mexico.
A major hurricane is Category 3 or higher, with winds greater than 111 mph.
