PENSACOLA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Officials say a 23-year-old Mississippi man drowned and more than a dozen other swimmers were ordered out of rough surf off Pensacola Beach.
Red flags were flying on the beach Sunday, warning people not to enter the water. Pensacola and parts of the Florida Panhandle received heavy rain that caused widespread flooding over the weekend.
Authorities say the beach patrol arrived about two minutes after beachgoers dialed 911 Sunday afternoon. The Pensacola News Journal reports the man's name has not been released.
